A worksheet for self-learning has been developed based on the two videos below to help you learn more about (i) the structure of an academic discussion, (ii) steps for disagreeing with others and (iii) techniques for using evidence to support your arguments. Some tasks are with answers while some are designed as open-ended tasks.

Video B has demonstrated a better discussion, because every participants could express their agreements / disagreements based on others' points and provide relevant evidence to support their own claims. Instead of challenging the group mates personally, they focused on the definitions and contents explained. This could only be achieved by listening carefully to others' opinions before responding.
